Digital Citizenship PowToons Project
Public Service Announcement Project
Public Service Announcements are also known as PSAs. PSAs are kind of like commercials, but they focus on matters of public interest such as drunk driving prevention and substance abuse. Broadcast stations for TV and radio are required to air a certain number of PSAs and they are aired free of charge. You have very likely seen or heard a PSA before. Do any come to mind? The idea behind PSAs is to try and influence people on a mass scale. A successful PSA campaign can make a huge impact on the attitudes of people. A PSA campaign that began in 1985 that encouraged people to use seat belts was instrumental in increasing seat belt usage from 14% to 79%. Since the campaign began, it is credited with helping to save an estimated 85,000 lives and over $3.2 billion. In today's world of accessibility to YouTube and social media, you have the power to help bring change. Check out the link to the Ad Council to learn about some of the most successful PSAs of all time.
